To increase the productivity of injection machines, more and more companies are investing in downstream and upstream automation.

Downstream automation is for automatic product insertion. Upstream automation is by automatic component removal. Both are accomplished by pick–and–place robots.

The trickiest part about the pick–and–place solution is the EOAT (End of Arm Tooling). As this part of the solution is constantly varying it is extremely tricky to standardize on the design.

Gimatic spa, Italy has recently launched worldwide a series of products to build these EOATs with the modular concept.
